Potatoes

Some early crops, such as Lady Christl, are ready for digging (this particular variety does not flower).

Some potatoes on both sites had frost damage, these will recover but may be ready a little later. The rain came at the right time for the potatoes to swell.

Tender Crops

All tender crops, i.e. tomatoes, sweetcorn, peppers, chillis, courgettes, cucumbers, can now be planted out.

However, be aware of the desiccating affect of any hot dry wind. BBC Countryfile weather report is recommended for the detailed week overview it gives.

Fig Tree

Varieties recommended for the UK include Brown Turkey and Violetta – they are generally easy to grow but will need regular pruning once established.
