Fire at Rosedale Road site

On Sunday evening (16th August) two fire engines were called out to attend a fire at Rosedale Road site.  Luckily no-one was hurt, the fire was quickly controlled and put out.  The plot holder’s shed was badly burnt, plus some tools, and the edge of a few crops.  It is believed that the fire was started by a small group of young teenage boys, unclear if it was deliberate or accidental.  Thankfully the fire was called in by several neighbours, and possibly one of the boys.  One neighbour in particular helped the fire officer to get into the plot, and was then helped by Clive Robertson who had seen the engines go past his house.  Thank you to our neighbours and Clive for dealing with the situation and keeping the committee informed!

This is a stark reminder of how dry the plots are at the moment – we have had some light rain but nowhere near enough yet!
